| In 2001, the band self-released the pivotal
live "Mint Jam" recording, with
Marcus Baylor now essentially the band's
full-time drummer. Since that time, the Jackets
signed a deal with the HeadsUp International
label, and have since released "Time
Squared", the holiday release "Peace
Round" and, most recently, "Altered
State". "Modern jazz band, spearheaded by mainstays
Jay Beckenstein and Tom Schuman, continues
its prolific recording streak after 31 years
of making music."

Welcome to My New Home!! I’m still putting the curtains up and
everything, but I feel good about the place.
So please feel free…explore; let me
know what ya think! I am an Artist..so I
thought I would make this page an extension
of my canvass. This shall be my work in progress.
I have been married to a wonderful woman
Karen for 28 yrs now, being the Father of
4 grown children; 3 daughters and a son.
I am also the grandfather of 4 beautiful
girls.
I was always considered shy and withdrawn
as a child. I was drawn to Art at a very
early age, owing the spark of my obsession
to two young artists in my school named Al
Lewis and Bobby Crochet. Both took me under
their wings and showed me all they knew.
I made my home at the school library, always
coming home with a bounty of knowledge under
my arms, seldom playing outside with the
other children, opting instead to feed from
the likes of Michelangelo and Raphael. My
gift gave me a sense of purpose, doing a
lot to lift my esteem.
I was cursed with a young face that
didn't help matters much. Being a black
male you are expected to look like you
just got out of prison. People always think
they have me figured out, sometimes even
talking down to me, for they think me to
be their junior, rather than their peer or
senior. I worked in mental Health for over
19 yrs before going on disability.
I met the Lord in 1979 during a revival at
the Philips Chapel COGIC; a guest of
my Mother. During the revival it was apparent
to me that I was the victim of a scam (or
so I thought) an effort to, Save me against
my will? A conspiracy no doubt- I surmised.
My mother must be in league with this Preacher
from Arkansas. For how else could he know
everything about me? How else could he be
aware of my most intimate fears and failures?
I was going to tell my Mom off as soon as
the service was over. But God had other plans
it seemed. For as the service continued I
felt a Godly Sorrow, and conviction come
over me, such as I have never felt before.
I was pricked in my heart and my faith was
made alive in him. It was on that evening
that I met the Lord Jesus Christ. Guess I
was wrong about my Mom. So this is me in
short- Michael Gibson |
